Jeanne Fry Art and the Inspiration behind the Paintbrush

Labels are difficult. When it comes to describing one's art, we tend to have styles and certain techniques that become basics in our toolbox, but placing ourselves in a box with a label is a challenge. I have often gone back and forth with what "type" of artist I am. Artists change as they grow. Themes, styles, and techniques can flow through us like a mood. Today I think if I was pressed to put a label on myself as an artist I would say that I was a Contemporary Folk Artist.   I have two main focuses in creating. One is Women's Empowerment. I often create artwork that focuses on inspirational, uplifting, and supportive pieces that remind women of how strong they are, how much they can accomplish, and how diverse each one of us can be. As I move through the phases of being a woman, learning and growing, I share those moments on the canvas. I know that I am not alone in my life lessons. Others are experiencing the same process of growth along with me.
