The Survivor Goddess - She who Carries Phoenix Medicine

We ALL have a Story, filled with ups and downs, trials and tribulations, joys and accomplishments. I myself believe that it is possible to re-write our story, in essence I think that do-overs can happen. It doesn't erase the previous chapters, but allows us to grow toward loftier heights as well as deeper in the soul. 
These beliefs are what led me to the creation of the "Survivor Goddess" - She who Carries Phoenix Medicine. She is the 11th Goddess in my watercolor painting series "30 Goddesses in 30 Days". I love that she emerged as number 11, such a meaningful number in numerology.

[The Number 11 is a Master Number, symbolic of New Beginnings. It is one of a pure and intuitive heart. Often we can go through periods of time when the number 11 presents itself to us seemingly everywhere, signaling to me that our guardians are watching over us, sending us messages, and confirming our path.]
Here, the Survivor Goddess, has just realized her journey by connecting with Phoenix medicine in a dream. This initial meeting offers the energy of the phoenix in shades of blue (symbolic of the dream state) instead of its usual colors of red. 
The Phoenix teaches her that no matter what, she can climb from the rubble and rise from the ashes in order to re-invent herself. Life is change, and we always have the opportunity to not only change because of necessity, but to change hand in hand with our dreams and ideals. The phoenix reminds her, if you're going to do it...do it right, do it big, and do it with love. "It's your Story...make it a good one."
When she wakes in the morning, she will remove her sleep mask, but the phoenix medicine will remain deep in her soul.

Another beautiful expression. :)
And I'm reminded of my phoenix meditations ~ which are revisited several times a year ~ and how my anchored focused tends to be in the ashes rather than in the rising. We long for the rise, yet the ashes have stories for us. Our stories.

A theme I will probably revisit a few more times with the paintbrush, those ashes are very complex..those little pieces of us...

I have been enchanted with the growing process of the "30 Goddesses in 30 Days" challenge that I have given myself. Some Forest Goddesses assist hunters, although Medeina's focus is not for helping the hunters but is for protecting the forest and its animal kingdom.  My depiction of her brings her out in a natural world sense, wearing a mask of leaves so she can walk amongst and be a part of that which she watches over...

Dona Nobis Pacem - Grant Us Peace

My entire adult life has been spent seeking, sharing, and Being Peace. I strive to surround myself with people who live their lives in a peaceful way, and try to inspire those who struggle to obtain it.  When I was young, I was blessed to grow up in an area of Upstate NY that was rich in cultural diversity. "Normal" to me was being immersed in that melting pot that was defined by so very many cultures and religions. My memories are filled with weekend events - celebrations, dinners, and dances held at different cultural community centers and churches. Everyone was welcome, and everyone would partake. The Goddess of Autumn - Number 8 in the 30 Goddesses in 30 Days Series

My natural instincts guided me to the creation of the Goddess who represents my favorite time of year, Autumn. This magical space in time is symbolic to me of Earthiness with a Splash of color - it is the time when the air has a little nip to it and we bring out our sweaters and scarves,  large harvests are gathered from the Earth, and the leaves begin to turn those brilliant colors reminiscent of paint on a palette. In Greek mythology the seasons are represented by a triad of deities called a Horae. The "withering" time of Autumn and Winter are watched over by "Carpo". Carpo was specifically in charge of the ripening of the harvest and Autumn, and was joined by "Thallo" and "Auxo" who represented Spring and Summer. The Horae was responsible for time and the seasons, so deeply connected to the rhythms of life of all beings.  My 8th painting is of Carpo. I wanted to bring a hint of her spirit with the earthy colors and the beginning...
