"Luna's Moonlit Garden" brings a closer look into the world of the Luna Moth, who long has intrigued us with her mystical and rare appearances. The Luna Moth is a wonderful teacher, reminding us that Life is short, we never know how long we will be in this beautiful world, and to cherish every moment for the joy of Living. No matter how difficult it may be at times, it is all a part of our spiritual journey, making us a better person, a more compassionate human, a more enlightened soul.

In this pop surrealism painting, I wanted to take a closer look at Luna - her correlation with the Feminine - and so created Luna as part woman and part Luna Moth. She floats above her garden of moon flowers, symbolic for her balance of light and dark, her mystical being, and resonating with her intuition. Her arms are outstretched in an offering of Embrace, perfectly molding into the shape of the Luna Moth's wings. Her auburn hair color is symbolic of Earth, in order to offer balance of Earth and Sky.

The Goddess of Autumn - Number 8 in the 30 Goddesses in 30 Days Series

My natural instincts guided me to the creation of the Goddess who represents my favorite time of year, Autumn. This magical space in time is symbolic to me of Earthiness with a Splash of color - it is the time when the air has a little nip to it and we bring out our sweaters and scarves, large harvests are gathered from the Earth, and the leaves begin to turn those brilliant colors reminiscent of paint on a palette. In Greek mythology the seasons are represented by a triad of deities called a Horae. The "withering" time of Autumn and Winter are watched over by "Carpo". Carpo was specifically in charge of the ripening of the harvest and Autumn, and was joined by "Thallo" and "Auxo" who represented Spring and Summer. The Horae was responsible for time and the seasons, so deeply connected to the rhythms of life of all beings. My 8th painting is of Carpo. Medeina Goddess of the Forest - Number 6 of the 30 Goddesses in 30 Days Series

I have been enchanted with the growing process of the "30 Goddesses in 30 Days" challenge that I have given myself. In a very short period of time the creation of a Goddess painting a day has become a blended part of my day as much as having my tea and eggs for breakfast. Part of the passion is the subject matter of the Goddesses. The other part of the passion is the growth I'm receiving working with the Peerless Transparent Watercolors and the styles involved. Today I finished Number 6 in the series, being "Medeina". Medeina is a Lithuanian Goddess of the Forests. She watches over the trees and the animals who lived in those magical woodlands. Some Forest Goddesses assist hunters, although Medeina's focus is not for helping the hunters but is for protecting the forest and its animal kingdom. My depiction of her brings her out in a natural world sense, wearing a mask of leaves so she can walk amongst and be a part of that which she watches over...
