Metamorphosis of a Woman - Original Contemporary Folk Art

It was time for Change, time for an utterly complete transformation. When she found herself walking through her days feeling like a foreigner in a strange distant land, she knew that somehow her life had been derailed into something that was unrecognizable....something that was not hers. Somewhere along the way she had relinquished her power to the manipulations of those who never had her highest good in mind.  Feeling broken she retreated quietly into the deepest past of her self, seeking respite and answers. She had lost everything and in retrospect realized that it was necessary, for this transformation required her to be in a most raw and authentic state. It was time to recreate her life into the magical journey it was meant to be. This time she will live it as the empowered woman warrior that she is, wiser for the battles she has already fought, and with a sage's grace that comes with the passing of seasons.  She spent considerable time wrapped up in her pro...

Relaxation and Self Care in the New Year with Mandalas

In a rapidly growing society that is ever more technology based, our spirit seeks ways to Relax, Decompress, Slow down, and Connect within. Adult coloring books have had a huge popularity, with intricate designs and pattern. Many of those coloring books have mandala based templates.  This weekend, I am offering an opportunity to take one of my workshops on "Creating an Intention Mandala". While engaging in the serenity of designing your Mandala, we will incorporate symbolism that reflects your Intentions for the New Year. I will provide handouts with common universal symbols, along with color and number symbolism to help through the activity.  Each participant in the workshop will receive a mini protractor set, that can then be used at home to continue making mandalas, even drawing them in your journals.  The mandalas in the workshop will be created on canvas panels and all materials are provided.  The workshop will be held adjacent to my a...

Clutching my Paintbrushes - The Transition from Creating at Home to an Open Studio

Every artist has their own journey within their creative life. On the surface the travel may seem similar, but each of our experiences vary greatly on how they impact our growth as a human. I consider us some of the most courageous people on the planet, continually challenging ourselves and exposing our inner most vulnerabilities, in order to elevate our Souls and our Art.  As this year was coming to closure, I felt compelled for change. For years I had been creating on a daily basis inside the security of my own home, even during times when my home itself wasn't secure. I had created my own artful world where my every moment would walk me through this world I created. Sacred spaces of art supplies in bounty, my tools for expression and understanding, grown so large they replaced my decor. Sleepless, painful nights could be soothed by walking a few steps to an easel. And while it has been healing and soothing and full of embrace, at the same time it has only allowed me to exten...

A Closer Look at the Luna Moth in her Moonlit Garden and Her Symbolism

"Luna's Moonlit Garden" brings a closer look into the world of the Luna Moth, who long has intrigued us with her mystical and rare appearances. The Luna Moth is a wonderful teacher, reminding us that Life is short, we never know how long we will be in this beautiful world, and to cherish every moment for the joy of Living. No matter how difficult it may be at times, it is all a part of our spiritual journey, making us a better person, a more compassionate human, a more enlightened soul. In this pop surrealism painting, I wanted to take a closer look at Luna - her correlation with the Feminine - and so created Luna as part woman and part Luna Moth. She floats above her garden of moon flowers, symbolic for her balance of light and dark, her mystical being, and resonating with her intuition. Her arms are outstretched in an offering of Embrace, perfectly molding into the shape of the Luna Moth's wings. Her auburn hair color is symbolic of Earth, in order to offer...

The Queen Bee's Honeycomb - The Nourishment of Life

The "Crowning" of the new Queen Bee was widely celebrated and holds special significance not only within her Hive, but throughout our worldly existence. Her post insures new life , the continuation of their colony , communities working together , and true concept of how each life affects another .  Her existence represents fully and in depth, the Sweetness of Life .  (I must chuckle when thinking - "No pressure, dear little one" ) The Queen Bee's Honeycomb - The Nourishment of Life- Contemporary Folk Painting by Jeanne Fry Clover holds special significance to the Bee as one of their main nectar sources, and we could all take a little care with clover whose symbolism represents living a life of comfort, ease, and prosperity.  Their magnificent Honeycomb is one to be marveled, so much work by colony, one by one each little hexagon created to build the structure. That six-sided wonder itself is representative of balance, union, nurturing, and harmony...

Women of the Equinox - Spiritual Meaning of the Folk Art Painted Muslin Ornament and Bookmark Gift Sets

The marking of the Autumn Equinox and the arrival of the Fall Season is rich in spiritual meaning and our healing processes. It's a time to reflect on cycles , chang e, letting go , and going inward . It is a time of sweet memories of what Was and what Is , and an acceptance that everything has its season, it's own time and place for being. We're encouraged to take those memories inward, honor them, and utilize their lessons in the future. These are the moments when we cherish the positive notes of our journey, and let go of the things that no longer serve us. We don't forget them, but we release them, relieving our shoulders and our hearts from carrying unneeded baggage that weighs us down. We prepare for the Quiet time, opportunities to reflect and heal, spending quality time healing our Soul. This is an absolute ME time, utilize it - cherish it - love it. This Autumn I created four pieces of Art that reflect this gorgeous time, actually four "sets" ...
