The Multifarious Paths of the Emperor Moth - Original Contemporary Black and White Painting

This Original Painting of an Emperor Moth, created in Black and White, is titled "Multifarious" by Jeanne Fry. With a Contemporary and Modern feel, the painting focuses on the highly detailed Emperor Moth while hints of Abstract movement come from behind.  By creating the artwork entirely in black, white, and shades of grey, I wanted to highlight the contrast and illusion of Simplicity and Complexity. The abstract flowing design behind the Moth represents various choices offered to the Moth - the Multifarious Paths of her journey.  She later realized that she had put herself through a great deal of unnecessary worrying and stress. After exploring all of the various paths that were open to her, there was no "right or wrong" choice for they all brought her to the same destination - the place that her motivated heart desired. Some of the paths took considerably longer than others. Some of the paths were more difficult that others. And some of the paths teste...

My Interpretation of Paper Towns and Losing Self

For years my artwork has focused on self growth, the spiritual journey, and how we walk in this world, so how perfect the creative challenge was when 20th Century Fox issued it a few weeks ago. The challenge asked to create a piece of artwork that reflected the theme of their movie "Paper Towns" and the quote "You have to get lost before you Find yourself".  The concept of feeling "lost" and figuring out who we are  has touched most all of us at least once.  When I began painting I thought about my own personal times when I have felt lost in this world, when it felt like I had lost my connection to everything and everyone. Usually in those moments I had some great realizations about the people around me, understanding that my perceptions of them had been wrong when the veil was lifted and I could see the truth. These were the moments when I questioned who I was and had lost my grasp of purpose.  I learned that the Being lost, while unnerving, al...

Butterflies Reconstructed - Looking at the Past to Understand the Present

The symbolism behind the Contemporary Folk Art Painting, "Butterflies Reconstructed" by Jeanne Fry. Using mixed media, Jeanne shares the story of the beautiful healing of familial patterns. She carries the Soul of a Butterfly a spirit perpetually evolving. Those beautiful wings, folded gently underneath, would soon allow her to Fly. She can hear the whispers from the Chrysalis, imparting its Wisdom, as she undergoes her Reconstruction, each piece gently being put back together. Softly the voice floats as if it were a song riding the Wind. It is a familiar song, the same song each of the women before her have learned... "Dear Soul, Be joyful. Let go of your fears and Feel Deeply. Trust your Heart for it knows the way. No judgments are allowed here. "Normal" will never be "Beautiful". Those breaks and cracks are merely surface allowing your deep gorgeous spirit to seep through like the morning sunrise after the...

Luna Moths, Dragonflies and Butterflies - The Symbolic Journey of Faith and Love

Dragonfly and Butterfly are led by the Light of the Sun, guided by its warm and healing energy to travel their journey with optimism and joy. Luna Moth is guided by the Light of the Moon who teaches her to Trust, to trust  in her inner knowing, confident that even though she may not see the path... it is there before her.  From their beautiful delicate lives we are urged to make the most of our moments, to live and love to the fullest, for the path of Light  Love Faith and Trust are the ultimate journey. "The Journey of Faith and Love" Original Painting by Jeanne Fry My newest painting, "The Journey of Faith and Love", was meant to express the path of life. In an Art Nouveau style I brought together the symbolic elements of the circle of life; the honey brown golden swirls represent the sun, the turquoise swirls represent the moon, the flower chalice holds the moon which represents the Universe, and the blossoming flower petals represent our personal...
